This heritage listed building was built in 1911 by Henry Pybus, captain of the Canadian Pacific steamship ‘Empress of Japan’ which took the blue ribbon while setting the Trans-Pacific crossing record 1887. The hotel originally accommodated railway and ocean going travellers back to both Pacific and Atlantic.
A nautical theme is retained, 34 private rooms, 12 per floor, showers on each floor, no dorms, all linen provided, parking facilities in same block.
